~204 Kanji later, the start of Japanese course 2

Kuva
I said goodbye to 2016 in the back seat of a bus while writing a presentation essay and studying like my life depended on it. I traveled back to Vaasa during the New Year night to make sure I could study without any distractions and that's what I did and passed the test. Japanese 2 course has now been going on for a good while and now there is hardly anything that I already know from my previous studies so I have to study even harder than before or some bad things will happen. Wish me luck. ^Here I'm leaving for Hämeenlinna to visit my parents on Christmas Eve. My friends took the pictures. Me and my mom ended up leaving for Lappeenranlta the next day (25.12.) to visit relatives. I got to drive our new car - not really a new one but they got it as used not so long ago so for me it was a new one - that I had never even seen before all the way to Lappeenranta in the dark evening while listening music. We spent a few days there and came back home. Like I pro...

Moving soon again

Kuva
Awake too late at night lately? Yup, totally me. Still haven't returned to my usual sleeping habits that got messed up because I studied for tests. Maybe it's just me but it's funny how easily things change. I'm not saying that every change is a bad one but I can't help wondering if all those things in the past and future will continue to run like a sand through my fingers. Nothing can be trusted. I hate it when promises aren't kept. If you can't keep a promise, don't make one in the first place or that is just going to hurt people. (argh)    A little bit of calligraphy practicing at school There is so much to do and so much work to finish but I'm doing nothing but thinking too much. First exams in FKF are done - finally over. I should be writing some job applications. I should do everything to make moving to a next apartment possible. Because hey, I'm finally moving to an apartment that can hopefully be called home. But I lack of ...

Let's talk about the "kawaii"-culture

Kuva
I guess everyone who are somehow more into japanese culture or have some basic knownledge of it have noticed this fact, that yes, cute things and often called " kawaii "-culture are and is a huge thing in Japan. It's overwhelming and kind of everywhere there. Cute styles, clothes, candy, bags, wallets, food, furniture, cards, toilet paper... almost everything you can come up with and that most likely exists.  And what's the most outstanding part, the cute culture isn't only for children but everyone including adults and older people! Photo was found from here by google Some years ago, around the time of my first year in high school all that cute stuff everywhere looked unrealistic to me and I was overwhelmed. That was the first impression I had and no wonder. To have options between casual and cute in almost everything was and still is something that's not in common here in Finland and western countries. It's just not a thing here! Most peopl...

First school day in FKF!! ; Fria Kristiga Folkhögskolan

Kuva
Well today (or actually yesterday) this whole japanology studying process has finally began! I was less nervous about the first day than I could have been because I had already got to know two of my new classmates. We found each other from internet through our blogs and already met many times before our school even started. Today I had a nice slow morning and ended up having to hurry up a little bit. I met with one of these new friends and we walked together to school. At first all of us new students gathered to our classroom at 1pm. Some of us seemed to have some trouble finding the right place just like I had at the first time with my mom. That wasn't a suprize because at least Google maps doesn't have any idea where our school actually is. FKF has three school buildings in a row near the church. The main building has "Fria Kristliga Folkhögskolan" written on it. As usually on the first day we went through bunch of introductions from our teacher, principl...

Japanese inspired food

Kuva
I feel like I have been extra inspired from japanese cooking lately. Trying new kind of recipes and studying about not-so-well-known-ingredients (at least here in my country;Finland) hasn't been a problem to me and that sure is a requirement to learn and do this properly. You will have to go through some trouble for sure when learning about something that you aren't familiar with. That much can be expected right?  I think it's usually worth it in the end and a lot of fun too. I really meant it when I mentioned 'studying'. I spent hours reading and watching videos about Asian and japanese food ^_^ Haha at first I was completely lost and everything looked so hard to make. Even finding the most basic ingredients was so difficult for me. I can remember myself searching bonito-flakes in the Asian styled market for ages without knowing what kind of product I was even looking for. The reason why I'm so interested in japanese food particularly I would say that...

Hellocon 2015

Kuva
So it's over again this year. I had some great time that's for sure. It was my second time visiting Hellocon. This time I actually could get more out of the event than last time because I have learned so much more about the lolita fashion during the past year. Still being beginner with the style I think. I was planning on making accessories like a mask according to the theme -circus and venice carnival- but after my whole attending to the event became unsure and some personal issues came up I gave up on that. I tried my best with my imagination and what I had in my closet. I decided to do a coordination with flowers. They often seemed to have much flowers on their outfits at Venice carnival, or so I figured while watching a lot of pictures. I left home dressed like this~ My friend and I got some stares and comments ecpecially on our way home as expected. Two kind older ladies already near our home told us how they liked our dresses. That made my day :) ...
